a little bit about what's here
Welcome to my brains dump station. Please don't feel obligated to read it but if you are here it's because you expressed an interest in being here or I just happen to think you're rad and want to include you in our life. Feel free to comment so that I know if anyone is reading! Not that it would stop me from blogging if no one did read, it's just nice to know who is around every once in awhile! I'll try to hit spell check before I post but I make no guarantee's! It's my blog and therefore you will find that I don't censor myself very often, especially when it comes to swear words (I'm working on it). If you don't like what I have to say, feel free to not read. I'm okay with that.
I love being a work from home mom to my one and only child, G. He is a dream that I never thought would come true. It's my goal in my life to raise him to be thoughtful, witty, respectful, gentle, sincere, creative, determined, instinctive, charming, frank, truculent, faithful, reflective, happy, active, bright, ambitious, talented, productive, decisive, kind hearted, friendly, proud, sarcastic, calm, righteous, generous, protective, dynamic, silly, adaptable, brave, honorable, gregarious, funny, fearless, outgoing, magnanimous, confident, cultured, fair and just plain amazing. It's not too tall an order, it's my life's work.

Just a little bit irritated!!!
My resignation letter had my last day of work as 04/10/09. I offered to stay and cover the weekends and Monday nights for the next two weeks so that they did not have to do any overtime, and hopefully they will at least know who they are hiring to replace me. They were happy that I offered to do that but they had me sign a "contract" that I was going to work that extra for the city. I offered thinking that that way my last partial check could go to paying back the balance of the uniform allowance that I did not want that was put in my paycheck at the beginning of the year (knowing that I wouldn't be here for the entire year). But no, they are taking that money out of my upcoming paycheck, not my last one. So my next paycheck will be about $400 short.
Then today I get here to cover Monday night from 5 pm until 11 pm, after having worked Saturday and Sunday (even though my "last day" was Friday) and I find that I am no longer a valid computer user. Oh yes, IT has erased me. Along with erasing me goes all of the things that I need to do my dang job. My autocorrects (i.e. I can type in ppd and it will turn it into Pocatello Police Department) are all gone. My forms (i.e. I type in misc and a whole form for a miscellaneous incident pops up for me to just fill in) are all gone. My personal stuff is all gone and I didn't get to move it off this computer before I left, which isn't until next week. Not a big deal you'd say - right? Well, it slows my work output WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY down. I didn't want to leave here with my last week being unproductive and looking useless - and that's exactly what's going to happen now. I don't want to be the one that they say, "Oh she checked out plenty early," etc.
And, on top of that - my headphones went kaput and I have to use someone else's and they are too big and they hurt my freakin ears. WhaWhaWha. I'm a big whiney baby, I know. I'm just a tad irritated is all...

Schtuff
Wow, I've been slacking. When I tell you that life has been hectic, I want you to take your thought of hectic and multiply that by about 100. Ha!
Work
My "last" work day at PPD was 04/07/09 but I am still working the weekends and Monday nights for 2 weeks. It benefits the PPD so they won't have to pay overtime and it benefits me since I have my 2009 uniform allowance to pay off (they give us $$ at the beginning of the year to be used for dry cleaning and such) still. My super (Cindi) threw a potluck for my going away on 04/07, and it made me realize just how much I'm going to miss these crazy wonderful people. I have never felt more "at home" at a job as I do here, and I'm sad to be leaving them, but not sad enough to give up the opportunity we're heading towards!
Ed's last day in Region 5 was on 04/06/09. They did a going away something at his work that day but I didn't attend since I was at work. They took his picture off their "employees" wall and his name tag off of his box and put it all in a picture frame. I think he feels a little slighted because when he left Region 5 back in 1998 (to move to Region 1 where he met me) they threw a party and had a plaque and everthing. But someone did make some yummy cookies I heard!
House
We haven't had as much traffic at the house as we would like, which makes both of us just a tad bit nervous. On Saturday (04/11/09) we had an Open House. The realtor said it went really well, we had 6-7 groups of people come through the house in the 3 hours. There were two groups in particular that seemed quite interested and the realtor expects to hear from them this week. She said there was not a single negative comment or any negative feedback (i.e. stuff we need to fix, change, work on, etc...) from anyone. Ours is the lowest priced one in the neighborhood but one of the newer and bigger ones. It's a great house in a great location...so SELL doggone it!!!
I will miss my house though - it's got my personal thumbprint on it and a lot of great things in my life have happened there. If I were house hunting I'd snatch it up all over again!!!
G
Our little man is so awesome. I can't put it any other way. His last day with the sitter was 04/06/09 and while I'm at work Ed will watch him and tag along after him. G likes to sit at the back door, which has a big window in it, and torment Siren while she's outside. He pounds on the door and screams (in delight) at her and she takes the play stance and barks at him.
We've been taking him to the park more, and he absolutely loves it there!!! He doesn't just go on the swing now - he likes to crawl thru the tunnels in the jungle gym and he tolerates the swings. I will get a new slideshow just of park pictures on here shortly.
He is sleeping a little bit better, but still not great - because there are more teeth coming in!!! They are like popcorn with the way they keep popping up!!! He has three on the top and three on the bottom, one more coming in on the bottom and one more coming in on the top. And his molars are right under the gums, they'll start pushing through any time now.
He's been trying new grown up foods lately and he is officially Cuckoo for Coco Puffs. Little weirdo! He's not a big fan of fruits but he loves his veggies! He's not doing so good with the sippy cup still, I'm thinking I might try using a straw instead. He has had tastes of lots of stuff lately (i.e. lasagna, ham, spaghetti, beef stew, etc..) and let me tell you - there is very little that this boy turns his nose up at!
His InfantSee appointment went great - the "doctor" was very impressed! He said he's a little farsighted but that's normal in kids his age.
Dogs
The dogs can sense that something is going on and I think it makes them nervous :( Siren has given G the warning growl/snap (never dreaming of making contact of course) to teach him where his boundaries are. Ed says if she snaps at him one more time we're getting rid of her - but I'm ready to fight for my fat ass girl. There have many a times that G has crawled over to me and hit, bit, or punched me and I snap at him...heck people even keep telling me to bite him back!
Moving
We have less than 2 weeks before we move! Eep! On this coming Wednesday (04/15/09) we're hooking the truck to the camp trailer and hooking the Jeep on a tow dolly to my car and we're headed for Powell. We're going to drop the camp trailer, the Jeep and my car off up there and then come home. It should be interesting to see how G handles being in the car/truck for around 15 hours that day. The drive up is what worries me since I'll be towing something and by myself in the car with G. He's going to just have to sit tight. Maybe I'll bring my iPod and headphones and just let him scream? Nah, I can't do that to my kid.
Renting a big U-Haul isn't as expensive as Ed originally thought it would be, but we don't have to worry about that since Ed's co-worker offered his truck and big horse trailer for us to use. Another work friend's in-laws have a flatbed trailer that should be able to haul the rest of our stuff. It's getting closer...
