a little bit about what's here

Welcome to my brains dump station. Please don't feel obligated to read it but if you are here it's because you expressed an interest in being here or I just happen to think you're rad and want to include you in our life. Feel free to comment so that I know if anyone is reading! Not that it would stop me from blogging if no one did read, it's just nice to know who is around every once in awhile! I'll try to hit spell check before I post but I make no guarantee's! It's my blog and therefore you will find that I don't censor myself very often, especially when it comes to swear words (I'm working on it). If you don't like what I have to say, feel free to not read. I'm okay with that.

I love being a work from home mom to my one and only child, G. He is a dream that I never thought would come true. It's my goal in my life to raise him to be thoughtful, witty, respectful, gentle, sincere, creative, determined, instinctive, charming, frank, truculent, faithful, reflective, happy, active, bright, ambitious, talented, productive, decisive, kind hearted, friendly, proud, sarcastic, calm, righteous, generous, protective, dynamic, silly, adaptable, brave, honorable, gregarious, funny, fearless, outgoing, magnanimous, confident, cultured, fair and just plain amazing. It's not too tall an order, it's my life's work.

Big fun!!!

We took G to the water park in town. I noticed that it was due to close soon and wish I had found it earlier in the summer. It was G's first trip to a public pool...or any kind of pool other than the little blow-up one in our front yard. He had a blast.

I don't know that I've ever seen this child more in his element.
He loved seeing all the other kids but as soon as he stepped in the water he never came back out. Well except to get out and cannonball back in. He was a swimming fool and he loved having the big flowers shooting down water on him, telling me, "Look mommy it's raining!" I have no doubt that if the big slides had been open (jerks closed them down before we got there) he would have been plummeting down those. Even though he is at the height minimum (48") I wouldn't let him go down those on his own so I guess I'd have to go. Or send E. Yeah, I'd probably send E.
We had one kid who, once he realized that I was putting my camera under the water wouldn't leave us alone. I think he just really wanted his picture taken. He kept telling G when to jump, how to jump, etc. and G kept looking at him like, "Why are you telling me what to do?" The boy would tell G, "Ready...set..." and G would take off and jump. The boy kept saying, "Wait for me this time." G waits for no one. It didn't help that the boy kept calling G Derek.

Then out of the blue I saw G dunking himself under the water. I was standing by him so I snapped a picture under water. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the camera and realized that he was opening his eyes under the water. The rest of our time at the pool was spent by G showing us that not only can he open his eyes under water but he'll open his mouth under water and blow bubbles, etc. He also showed us some rudimentary swimming skills. Neither of us had any idea he could do these things...we're not even sure he knew! He was especially fond of drinking in a mouthful of water (yuck, pool water) and then popping out of the pool and burping. One little boy in particular found this funny so they became quick friends.

I kept warning G that the water was icky and not to drink it but he didn't listen. He had a big ol' distended belly full of pool water by the time the pool closed down (early too, jerks). On the way home G informed us that he needed to go potty so E pulled over and I got G out. I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention and G said, "Uh oh." I then noticed that he wasn't tinkling...he had the power poops...all down his legs and on his pants/shoes/socks, etc. I just laughed and told E, "We could use some help here, can you get out the package of wipes?" Then I told G, "I said not to drink the yucky pool water!"

He couldn't poop straight for two days and now I just have to ask him, "Is pool water good?" and he'll answer, "No way, it makes my butt hurt!" Not exactly what I was trying to instill in him but it gets the job done.

when owners start to look like their pets...

There was only one picture between these two on my SD card. When I saw one and then the other I busted out laughing. I guess it makes sense that they start looking alike, they have been together for what, like 8.5 years? If I could find one of those, look alike websites I'd totally submit them.

No pee in pool!

It has been ungodly hot up here. For the three summers prior to this one we'd have, literally, like a week or less of 90+ degree temps. We had almost six weeks straight of 95+ degree days. It makes me all that much more thankful for our seven-ish month winters. We started out the summer with the cheapie blow-up pool from the summer before but then G discovered the fine art of cannonballing and pop went that pool. Good thing I had a back-up pool just in case. Then he popped that one. But there were no more pools to be found in town unless we wanted to spend $150+ on one with a filter, etc. Nah, we just started patching the pool. It looks a little ghetto but it gets the job done.
G has to be in the pool at least once a day...most times it's a few times a day, especially if daddy is off work. After 10+ hours out on the hot highway when E would come home from work he'd peel his uni off and make a bee-line for the pool...most of the time just as nekkid as G. Then E & G would spend at least another hour cannonballing, splashing each other, spitting water at each other and a host of other not appropriate but mommy will pretend she doesn't see it activities.
Oh and shark, can't forget that they have to play shark and alligator. G likes to have to be rescued from the shark (i.e. Daddy) by pulling himself out of the pool with a hose so Daddy or Mommy always has to be the shark or alligator.
He's even started to wear goggles, though he doesn't prefer to stick his whole head under the water. It's a start. They spent almost entire day last week playing with the "clam" I provided...an empty travel container for Treximet (the migraine medicine). I was in the house trying to not die from a migraine and they were opening and closing, opening and closing the "clam." No pearl though because that dang medicine didn't work. Back to the Maxalt.
He got brave really fast and now he's all about insanity. I hope the Summer Olympics and those dang 300 gazillion millimeter platform divers didn't give him these ideas.
As much as the boy loves winter and snow I think he likes summer even more. Spending all day every day outside? And swimming? And splashing mommy and making her scream? Apparently that's his heaven. I have to admit, we're quite spoiled because some twit plumbed one of the outdoor faucets for hot water so our pool is like bathwater. Even on a 99 degree day we add some water because the well water is f.r.i.g.i.d.!!!!!!

Next summer we'll probably invest in a smaller "big" above ground pool with the filter since he's still such a little fish child. I'm going to have to attach a water slide to the shed or something to daredevil it up for him. I'm going to take him to the pool and see if he'll jump into water over his head, that might help me determine if we should get the bigger pool. Or we'll just shell out another $24 at Walmart next summer. Regardless, tons of entertainment thanks to our ghetto pool!

Our temperatures have recently started to be below 90 degrees and when the temperature drops around here it usually drops pretty fast so I don't know that the pool will be out for use much longer. Most kids around the country are back in school already and that's just odd to me, it's still August! Another reason I'm happy to be home with G and happy to homeschool him. Heck, if we wanted, we could be doing our schoolwork poolside right now!
Like my new underwater camera ^ that this picture is compliments of? It's f-u-n!!!

And it's looks like that^ that I will remember most about this summer. The older G gets, the more fun they have together.
