a little bit about what's here

Welcome to my brains dump station. Please don't feel obligated to read it but if you are here it's because you expressed an interest in being here or I just happen to think you're rad and want to include you in our life. Feel free to comment so that I know if anyone is reading! Not that it would stop me from blogging if no one did read, it's just nice to know who is around every once in awhile! I'll try to hit spell check before I post but I make no guarantee's! It's my blog and therefore you will find that I don't censor myself very often, especially when it comes to swear words (I'm working on it). If you don't like what I have to say, feel free to not read. I'm okay with that.

I love being a work from home mom to my one and only child, G. He is a dream that I never thought would come true. It's my goal in my life to raise him to be thoughtful, witty, respectful, gentle, sincere, creative, determined, instinctive, charming, frank, truculent, faithful, reflective, happy, active, bright, ambitious, talented, productive, decisive, kind hearted, friendly, proud, sarcastic, calm, righteous, generous, protective, dynamic, silly, adaptable, brave, honorable, gregarious, funny, fearless, outgoing, magnanimous, confident, cultured, fair and just plain amazing. It's not too tall an order, it's my life's work.

Does your face light up?

My face does light up when G walks into the room. But I'm going to make sure now that he doesn't see my critical face as often.

"Your face speaks what your heart feels."

Wow.

So what is my face saying? Maybe it's time to look in the mirror a little more often, goodness knows I only see myself with the critical face so what face am I looking at other people with? Shoot, I don't even care about "other people," I care about those that I'm close to and love. What is my face telling them about how I feel about them? I roll my eyes a lot and that speaks volumes non-verbally.

I remember when we lived in Poky and I'd come home from work and G would be at the gate at the top of the stairs. Then as I put my key in the lock he'd pull himself up and look at me over the gate and he'd smile. EVERY time, no matter how rough my day was my heart would leap and I'd return that smile. Don't we deserve that reaction every day?

Well if wife hell doesn't take me first...

I finally bought the little point and shoot I've been watching for awhile now and working extra to buy. Yes, I have a nice, full sized DSLR but I wanted something smaller to pack around in my purse, etc. I got the camera because it's waterproof, shockproof and freeze proof, which is mega cool. G knows it's waterproof, I told him. We were outside and G got in the pool and G started to splash me because he knows the camera is waterproof, right? E yells at G to stop splashing mommy's new camera.

So then I just dropped the camera in the pool. I thought DH was going to have a heart attack. G fishes it out and goes, "Oops mommy, you dropped your camera." I said, "Aw shucks, I sure did." Then I continued snapping pictures. E is like, "Hey is it still working?" "Nope, just liked pushing this here little button so much that even if it's waterlogged I'll keep pushing it because it makes a pretty little beep. OR the camera is waterproof. Whichever."

G is totally giggling.

So E figures out we're screwing with him and he has to check the camera out then. He wants one now. I told him that I would happily share it with him. He tells me, "You need to get me one of those floating wrist straps though so I can take it fishing." So I did. A hot pink one.

I'm so going to bad wife hell aren't I? And I'm teaching my son to be a dry delivery smart ass too. We're going to be a great team as he grows up.

I'm going to parenting hell

G just came into the office (because it's Sunday and I'm working) to ask me something that I had heard Daddy telling him to come and ask me.

G: "What time are you going to make dinner?"
Me: "Come here, let mommy give you my answer to give back to daddy. Here, put your hand like this. Then put this finger like this. Okay, got it? Okay, now go back out and say, 'Daddy here is mommy's answer' and show Daddy your hand okay?"
G: "Got it!"

G: "Daddy, dis is mommy's answer."
Ed: "HEY! That's not nice!"
Me: *snicker, snicker*

So say it!

I have a friend or two who probably don't know that what he/she says does this for me often. Sometimes even the smallest encouragement, compliment or expression of appreciation and love mean a lot at that time in my life.

I *heart* this

Nana's house visit

G and his niece Camala, the little girl who was born just a few days after G to E's daughter.
Peas and carrots already, those two. She's such a sweet girl! They were playing in the creek that runs behind Grandma Dee's house, the one that E grew up playing in!
The boy in the red shirt is Tim, E's oldest grandson and by default, G's nephew. Ha.
He fell asleep in his bunkbed in the trailer while watching Transformers.

We took G to Triple Play, which I have to tell you is SO not worth the money. As I stood there contemplating how ridiculously priced everything was I didn't even notice that I was pulling out my wallet and paying. Ridiculous. I don't know how people with more than one child can afford to do anything because I nearly wept just paying for us and the Boof.

Go-Karts are fun! I didn't notice it at the time we were doing them but I think G actually got a good case of car sickness. In the pictures that I took he looks downright green. But I promise you, he had fun...just not when he came near whoever was taking pictures. I can totally understand the car sickness thing, being the passenger for a very windy, jerky ride...it's like going from our house to town every week on Highway 12...which is why I prefer to drive when possible.
Daddy warning G that he's out too far and needs to come back.
Crazy boy

G, my sister and I took a power walk (hahaha, get it, since she's in a power chair?) to the elementary school that my sister went to so G could play on the playground.
This ^ picture is one of a few that makes it so that I can still see the baby in this growing boy!
Playing in the sprinkler at Nana's house.
Giving Aunty a smoochie
Triple Play
GO-KARTS! He's been wanting to ride these dang things for two years.
He loved it and even if he was getting car sick he didn't want to stop.
what?
And he got to do some bowling, which he sucks at. He gets that from me.

We also got to go to Honeysuckle Beach a few times which G was over the moon about. My little fishy and a shit-ton of other people? Oh yay (for him, not me). We drove alllllllllllllllllllllll the way around Hayden Lake itself trying to find another beach that wasn't so packed with people and instead learned that it's a long drive and the entire lake has been purchased by rich Nazi's. Whatever.
What's gonna work? TEAMWORK!
Honeysuckle Beach.
My turn to get drenched at Triple Play!
Otherwise we did a lot of hanging out with my sister and Nana at the house. I didn't really think about it much while we were there but it's probably the last time I'll be able to stay at the house that I basically grew up in because my mom is selling the house and moving away. I don't know how I'm going to handle the boy when he asks me, "Mommy we go to Nana house?" because he won't understand her reasoning any more than I do.

bad mommy!

Boy if that isn't a "check yourself," statement there I don't know what is. I was just complaining about the nonstop talking and his questioning of everything. I need to be a better listener.

70x7 and Beyond

"The Bible is contradictory," I said, feeling smug. "It says God forgives over and over, but it also says He's a just God. If He's just, He can't keep forgiving. He has to draw the line someplace."
"No, Monty, the Bible isn't contradictory. In this instance, you have to know more about God. He isn't like us humans. We may forgive, but it's difficult for us to forget. When God forgives, He has the divine ability to forget. He's forgotten the last time you asked for forgiveness. He's forgotten your past sins. That's why His forgiveness can be never-ending."

"When God forgives, He has the divine ability to forget." It works two fold though. If he forgets your sins then what else does He get to forget that easily? That's why one has to talk to Him each and every day. That's why one has to be a member of one's church, not just show up on the holidays. He forgets the bad stuff so it's not unreasonable to believe that he forgets the good things too and therefore one must keep in communication with Him, don't you think? It was just an eye opening statement from a book I was reading...
